Description

The Senior Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator operates light and heavy equipment and performs general laboring duties.

Examples of Duties

  • Operates a wheel loader, yard jockey truck, and trailer to process incoming waste to be hauled by contractor to out-of-county landfill site.
  • Operates excavator, wheel loader, bulldozer, and compactor to process inert waste.
  • Operates a zero-turn mower and farm tractor/rotary mower to maintain landfill grounds.
  • Operates weed eaters, hand blowers, edgers, chemical sprayers, pole saws, etc. to maintain the landfill.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Performs litter control duties.
  • Serves on City Emergency Response Team as required.
  • Provides direction and assistance to customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • One (1) year of experience in a related field;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
  • Valid State of Georgia Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.

Additional Information

The selected candidate must complete the following requirements prior to starting work with the City of Statesboro:

  • Background Investigation
  • Pre-Employment Urinalysis
  • Pre-Employment Physical
