The Senior Landscape Materials Engineer will provide technical leadership for the specification, approval, and quality assurance of materials and systems used in public parks, playgrounds, and urban public-realm projects across the GCC.
The role focuses on playground equipment, outdoor fitness systems, safety surfacing, shade structures,and park furniture, ensuring full compliance with international standards, authority requirements, and project specifications. The position involves close coordination with design, construction, procurement, suppliers, and approving authorities throughout design development, procurement, installation, and commissioning stages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and validate technical specifications for playground equipment, outdoor gymsystems, safety surfacing (EPDM, rubber tiles, poured-in-place), shade structures and tensilesystems, and park furniture including benches, bollards, litter bins, pergolas, and signage.
- Lead material submittal reviews, approvals, and technical compliance assessments.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers on shop drawings, product data sheets, testing certificates, warranties, and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure compliance with international playground standards such as :EN 1176, EN 1177, ASTMF1487, and relevant municipal and authority regulations.
- Develop and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for play equipment and park furniture.
- Conduct factory inspections and site audits.
- Issue NCRs, corrective actions, and closure reports.
- Support construction teams during installation and commissioning.
- Witness impact testing, anchoring inspections, and final safety certifications.
- Act as the technical focal point with clients, consultants, and approving authorities.
- Support submissions to municipalities and public developers.
- Participate in technical workshops, coordination meetings, and value-engineering sessions.
- Assist procurement teams in pre-qualifying playground, fitness, and furniture suppliers.
- Review material samples and mock-ups.
- Support commercial teams with technical clarifications during tender stages.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Landscape Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of total professional experience, preferably within the GCC or similar markets.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in:
- Public parks and urban open spaces
- Playground systems
- Park furniture and public-realm amenities
- Native Arabic speaker with fluent professional English.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Playground safety standards and regulations
- Materials testing and certification
- QA/QC procedures
- Authority approval processes
- Proven experience working with municipalities, public developers, or large-scale projects.
- Currently based in the GCC or willing to relocate.
Additional Skills Considered a Plus
- Experience on mega-projects or city-wide park programmes.
- QA/QC or ISO-related certifications.
- Previous experience working with government or public-sector clients.
- Exposure to KSA giga-projects, Qatar developments, or Dubai masterplans.
