Job Description: Senior Legal Counsel
The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for overseeing the legal aspects of the organization. This role involves providing strategic legal guidance on all matters affecting the company, including corporate governance, litigation, compliance, contracts, intellectual property, and public policy. You will ensure that the company always operates within the law, counsels on legal rights and duties, and manages the internal legal function and external legal resources. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in legal leadership, with strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
· Provide executive leadership, oversight, and direction of all legal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation, and corporate governance.
· Represent the company’s legal interests in interactions with external parties, regulators,
and stakeholders.
· Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure ethical conduct.
· Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents and contracts with clients, suppliers, partners, and employees.
· Ensure that contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies and procedures.
· Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may affect the company and recommend proactive strategies to address legal challenges.
· Lead and manage the legal team by providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a high-performance culture.
· Provide legal advice and guidance to company management on a variety of issues.
· Advise on corporate governance practices and corporate secretarial functions, ensuring compliance with statutes and regulations.
· Guide the board of directors and senior management on the legal implications of corporate strategies and decisions.
Preferred Skill & Expertise
· Master’s degree in law is a must.
· A minimum of 9 years of legal experience in a corporate legal department, with a significant portion of that experience in a leadership role.
· Strong understanding of the Real Estate industry and sector-specific laws and regulations.
· Proven track record in negotiations, contract management, and risk assessment.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels.
