Company Overview:

A leading renewable energy IPP, deeply rooted in Africa, with a strong presence across the continent is looking for his / her Senior M&A Associate. The firm specializes in the acquisition, development, and management of solar, hydro, and energy storage assets, with a strong commitment to ESG and impact investing.

Role Overview:

The Senior M&A Associate will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic acquisitions and investments in renewable energy projects across Africa. Based in Dubai, the role bridges regional investment strategy with on-the-ground execution, supporting the company’s growth in solar, BESS, Hydro and other renewable technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Deal Sourcing & Evaluation

  • Identify and assess renewable energy investment opportunities across Africa.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Investment Bankers, developers, IPPs, advisors, and government entities.
  • Conduct market and regulatory research to support investment theses.

Transaction Execution

  • Lead financial modeling and valuation of target assets.
  • Coordinate due diligence across legal, environmental, technical, and financial workstreams.
  • Draft investment memos and presentations for internal committees.
  • Support negotiation of term sheets, SPAs, and shareholder agreements.

Portfolio & Strategic Support

  • Monitor performance of acquired assets and support strategic initiatives (e.g., refinancing, exits).
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure alignment with investment goals.
  • Provide insights on market trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field, MBA is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in M&A, project finance, or private equity, ideally in renewables or infrastructure.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Experience with African markets and regulatory environments.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel across Africa as needed.
