Asante Gold Corporation is a gold exploration, development and operating company with a high-quality portfolio of projects and mines in Ghana. Asante is currently operating the Bibiani and Chirano Gold Mines and continues with detailed technical studies at its Kubi Gold Project for early production.

About This Role
To lead the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities across the plant, ensuring optimal equipment reliability, minimal downtime, and efficient use of resources. The Senior Plant Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in aligning maintenance strategies with production objectives, safety standards, and continuous improvement goals to support overall plant performance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate closely with operations and maintenance teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to production.
  • Ensure the timely availability and optimal utilization of resources, including manpower, materials, and tools.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of equipment history, performance, and maintenance activities.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to manage work orders, asset data, and maintenance schedules.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives.
  • Generate and present reports on key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs), backlog status, and compliance metrics.
  • Plan and manage plant shutdowns and major overhauls, including resource planning, budgeting, and timeline coordination.
  • Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the timely availability of critical spare parts and materials.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in plant or industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a senior supervisory or leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on experience in maintenance planning, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Valid Driver's License with proven defensive driving skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, Pronto, or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex maintenance schedules and shutdowns
  • Valid Ghanaian Driver's License with good and defensive driving skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective maintenance plans aligned with operational goals.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Proven leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and fostering a culture of accountability
  • High standards for data integrity, documentation, and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
