Senior Manager, Advocacy

Annual Salary: $100,000-110,000

Are you a seasoned government relations professional looking to make a splash in your career? PHTA is on the lookout for a dynamic individual to join our team and help us navigate the waters of state, local, and federal policy. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, you'll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining relationships with government officials, industry partners, and PHTA members.


What You'll Do:

  • Government Relations: Collaborate with the Executive Vice President to craft and execute strategies that influence policy at all levels. You'll be our voice in legislative and regulatory discussions, ensuring our interests are well-represented.
  • Policy Advocacy: Dive into policy advocacy at state and local levels. You'll research, compose, and deliver testimony, keeping PHTA leadership informed with timely updates and strategic advice.
  • Coalition Development: Build and manage coalitions with other organizations to advance our policy objectives. You'll be the primary liaison to PHTA’s Government Relations Advisory Committee (GRAC).
  • Grassroots and Member Networks: Mobilize PHTA members and the wider community through grassroots initiatives. You'll ensure their interests are front and center in our advocacy efforts. Help organize PHTA’s annual Day on the Hill.
  • Membership and Committees: Create content for PHTA marketing channels and support our government relations committee. You'll communicate department priorities and incorporate council members' input into our strategies.
  • Strategic Planning: Work with PHTA leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for government relations and advocacy. You'll monitor progress and provide regular updates to key stakeholders.
  • Member Outreach: Take our advocacy newsletter to the next level by heading outreach initiatives. You'll develop engaging content and strategies to keep our members informed and involved in our advocacy efforts.
  • Other Responsibilities: Contribute to the overall mission of PHTA and collaborate with senior leaders on strategic direction.


What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in political science, Public Policy, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 6 years of experience in government relations or public policy.
  • Interests: Interests in policies around swimming pools, manufacturing, energy, and codes.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Familiarity with legislative tracking and grassroots activation applications (Quorum preferred), highly responsive, and a keen eye for detail. Experience managing contract lobbyists.
  • Attributes: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to travel up to 25%.
