About the Role

Total Wine & More seeking a Senior Manager, Compliance to join our HR Compliance team in our Bethesda, MD office. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. This role involves assessing and mitigating compliance risks, conducting audits, and working closely with various departments to enforce compliance standards. The Sr. Compliance Manager plays a crucial role in training employees on compliance matters, monitoring for potential risks, and ensuring the organization operates with integrity and in line with industry regulations.

You will

  • Develop, implement, and manage compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations. Develop, review, process and approve workday attestation and legal documentation.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop the framework and strategic planning for a risk monitoring program. Support business continuity through cross functional policy reviews and revisions to various compliance related programs. Stay up to date on industry regulations and ensure the organization's policies reflect current legal standards. Draft and develop HR policies and provide policy adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of improvement. Monitor and report on compliance metrics, identifying and addressing compliance issues as they arise to senior leadership
  • Develop workforce programs, within the People function, to ensure compliance with government programs and reporting requirements including federal and state EEO reporting and pay transparency.
  • Provide clear and accurate interpretation of People regulations to assist HR and business collaborators – for example, wage and hour, payroll compliance, employment classifications.
  • Partner closely with internal legal counsel on critical or escalated topics. Act as a trusted advisor to key internal stakeholders, and provide expert insight and accurate interpretation of federal, state, and local regulatory directives.

You will come with

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business, Law, or a related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • 7-10 years experience in HR compliance preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. (Medium proficiency)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to hold information confidential
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • CRCMP - Certified Risk And Compliance Professional compliance certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) Preferred
