Introduction:

The Department of Emergency Services at the Aga Khan University Hospital offers multiple specialties under one roof, enabling doctors from different services to work seamlessly together, offering a multidisciplinary health approach resulting in an effective continuum of care. The patients who require additional consultation are catered to, by visits of relevant specialty doctors from other departments, making complete, holistic care possible under one roof.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chair, you will be responsible as a lead for the overall management of the department. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • develop and implement strategic and annual plans, particularly in relation to patient care services in the department
  • ensure that the department’s goals and objectives are accomplished as well as day-to-day operational activities are executed in an efficient manner
  • develop and monitor the department’s budgets, goals, strategies, volumes, and revenues
  • develop and maintain dashboards from the various data sources and track various Key Performance Indicators relevant to ER output and efficiency
  • develop formal proposals, feasibilities, policies, pathways, documentation tools, and education material where necessary
  • plan and assist leadership in calculating future needs and growth, and ensure availability of required resources
  • lead ER operations including procurement, asset management, management of throughput, and overall administrative management of the department
  • design and execute service expansion plans with sustainable outcomes in coordination with the help of multidisciplinary support services
  • facilitate and liaise with hospital teams for future services and infrastructure development at institution level
  • analyze and recommend solutions to resolve complex issues where policies and procedures may not be clearly defined
  • maintain quality assurance and complaint/incident reports data, follow-up on the same and take corrective and preventive measures for improvement
  • review Patient Satisfaction Index and take measures to continuously improve the indices
  • ensure adequate staffing coverage and implement developmental plans to promote continuous learning and development of staff
  • facilitate in department’s quality initiatives and implement quality standards as per JCIA requirements.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management or equivalent from a reputed university while having MBBS degree will be an added advantage
  • at least ten years of relevant experience, including at least three years of working at senior management level
  • expertise in operational management, analysis of budget variance reports and statistical data
  • ability to develop and maintain data dashboards and sound knowledge of resource management including financial management
  • excellent negotiation skills with knowledge of marketing
  • flair to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders for the delivery of exemplary patient care services
  • excellent interpersonal skills and aptitude to act as an entrepreneur
  • ability to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines
  • willingness to travel nationally as well as internationally on need-basis.
