Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on 4-wall technology leader who will be the technical backbone behind Five Iron Golf’s in venue consumer experience. This role combines venue technology operations and IT leadership, ensuring that all tech in our spaces – from Trackman golf simulators to food & beverage ordering systems to AV systems – works seamlessly and at scale, ensuring every guest has a seamless, world-class experience.
You’ll lead day-to-day technology operations for our venues, solving problems while also building the standards, monitoring systems, and processes that will ensure customers enjoy a flawless experience every time they visit a Five Iron location. The role is hands-on and strategic, perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves blending physical hardware with digital technology.
Key Responsibilities

Venue Tech: IT & Systems Management
- Oversee simulator technology: Trackman simulators, cameras, sensors, projectors, PCs and all associated tech
- Oversee F&B technology: kiosks, POS devices, kitchen printers and related systems
- Oversee A/V systems, other guest-experience tech, and related networking
- Own the reliability of networks, wifi, POS systems and backend infrastructure
- Implement and enforce venue cybersecurity and data protection standards
- Direct Support & Troubleshooting
- Serve as the primary escalation point for simulator, PC, network, AV and IT performance issues access all locations
- Remote into systems, diagnose and resolve problems, and guide on-site staff through mitigation and remediation procedures
- Maintain a high level of availability for urgent issues impacting the customer experience
- Monitoring & Reliability
- Build and operate real-time monitoring and observability systems to detect issues with tech in our venues before they impact customers.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and processes for proactive problem-solving
- Develop proactive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Analyze system logs to identify root-cause issues for recurring problems, and implement strategies to address the underlying issues to improve future performance
- Process & Standards
- Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, escalation paths, and standard operating procedures for location staff.
- Standardize inn venue technology setups across all locations, ensuring repeatability and consistency
- Build and maintain standardized tech packages for new store openings
- Vendor & Project Management
- Manage relationships with third-party in venue technology providers for installations, upgrades, and physical maintenance across all locations
- Oversee and validate vendor work, ensuring alignment with Five Iron standards for performance and cost
- Evaluate and recommend new vendors as Five Iron expands
- Strategic Improvements & Cost Controls
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term fixes, automations or system changes to prevent recurrence
- Own the Venue Technology budget, with accountability for cost controls, vendor spend, and system investment decisions
- Partner with Engineering, Product/Enterprise Systems, Operations and other teams to ensure in venue technology infrastructure scales effectively with business growth
- Negotiate service agreements and manage escalations
- Leadership & Team Development
- Develop documentation, training, and knowledge-sharing for field staff
- Future opportunity to build and manage a small technical team as the company scales
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in venue technology, IT operations, systems administration, or a similar role (hospitality, retail, or experiential industries preferred).

Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration, POS systems, and A/V systems

Strong technical proficiency with:
- High-performance Windows gaming PCs and peripherals
- Networking (LAN/WAN/WiFi), routing, and connectivity troubleshooting
- System monitoring/observability tools (e.g. Zabbix, Datadog)
- Demonstrated ability to support distributed environments with high uptime requirements.

Compensation: $110,000 to $130,000 per year
