Job Purpose:
This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans to optimize boiler chemistry and plant efficiency. This role oversees the operations of various systems within the plant, standardizes work instructions for operational excellence, and coordinates maintenance activities to minimize downtime. The position also involves conducting vendor evaluations, maintaining a safe work environment, making decisions in consultation with the HOD, and tracking performance through KPIs.
Responsibilities
Section Head - Boiler Chemistry
Strategic Planning And Operational Excellence
Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans to enhance efficiency and productivity for boiler chemistry within the plant.
Prepare work instructions to standardize plant operations and ensure operational excellence.
Monitor and approve the release of equipment for scheduled maintenance and follow up for preventive maintenance (PM) tasks to minimize downtime.
Identify and update Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other monitoring parameters for the SWAS system, CPU system, Stator Water System, CCCW system, FGD, SCR, H2 plant and CW (Circulating Water) to ensure performance tracking.
Operations Management And Coordination
Oversee the entire operations of SWAS system, CPU system, Stator Water System, CCCW system, FGD, SCR and H2 plant.
Coordinate with other sections for seamless maintenance activities and record details for critical activities.
Conduct technical evaluations of vendors for services and materials.
Ensure good housekeeping practices within the section to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Take authorized decisions in the area of responsibility in consultation with the Head of Department (HOD) to maintain operational integrity.
Budget And Inventory Management
Oversee the preparation of the annual budget for the section, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
Oversee the Purchase Requests (PRs) raised by the team, coordinate with the Techno Commercial department for enquiries, tenders, and timely material/service acquisition.
Approve Material Requisition Slips (MRS) to procure materials from stores, ensuring inventory levels are maintained.
Initiate departmental requests for necessary service contracts or material purchases to support operations.
Business Sustainability
Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department to maintain compliance with all legal and environmental requirements.
Promote safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Ensure and track that all team members complete safety training to foster a culture of safety awareness.
Digitization And Automation
Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency and data management.
Innovate and implement automation solutions to enhance process control and reduce manual intervention.
Ensure the integration of advanced technology and digitization in line with organizational goals and strategies.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging the adoption of digital tools and practices.
People And Team Engagement
Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the team.
Drive and enhance employee engagement and retention to sustain a positive workplace culture and high team morale.
Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural training.
Ensure proper succession planning within the team to prepare for future leadership and technical roles.

Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
M.Sc./B.Sc./B.Tech in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in water chemistry or industrial chemistry preferred.
Work Experience (Range Of Years)
15+ years of experience with at least 5 years in a team handling role.
Preferred Industry
Experience in Thermal Power Plant or similar industry.
