Summary of Job:
The Senior Manager of R&D will join the Global Engineering team to lead research and development initiatives that advance Asurion’s technical capabilities and operational excellence. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role is responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers and technicians, driving R&D projects from ideation through pilot execution, and ensuring alignment with market needs, supplier capabilities, and operational goals.
This position is dedicated to driving innovation that keeps Asurion at the forefront of technology and positioned ahead of market shifts. Key responsibilities include market research and supplier capability development, device transformation strategies to maximize product lifecycle, operational technology innovation, and lifecycle ownership of test and equipment solutions. This leader will ensure that new solutions and methodologies are validated, cost-effective, compliant, scalable, and capable of supporting Asurion’s long-term business objectives across all sites.
While the primary focus of this role is on R&D leadership, the Senior Manager is expected to remain adaptable and support evolving business priorities, contributing to the overall success of Asurion’s engineering and operations teams.
This is a full-time onsite employment position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- 
Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians, setting clear goals and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- 
Foster collaboration with directors, peers, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of R&D strategies with business objectives.
- 
Translate organizational goals into a clear team vision, managing resources and priorities to deliver results.
- 
Guide projects from concept through execution, ensuring that solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with Asurion’s business needs.
- 
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of innovative technologies, products, and processes that enhance efficiency, quality, and lifecycle performance.
- 
Partner with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to assess opportunities, drive innovation, and ensure feasibility of solutions.
- 
Support the introduction of new products, processes, and technologies by ensuring readiness across testing, validation, and deployment activities.
- 
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards across all R&D initiatives.
- 
Monitor performance metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- 
Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations to leadership and global teams, maintaining alignment across functions and geographies.
- 
Remain adaptable, taking on evolving priorities and supporting initiatives that contribute to the overall success of Asurion’s engineering and operations teams.

Familiarity with automation, API integrations, and digital system enhancements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (FMEA, DOE, SPC, Six Sigma Green Belt preferred).

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.

Skilled in project management, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Education and Experience Guidelines:
- 
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline is required.
- 
Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in engineering, research and development, or product innovation roles.
- 
Minimum of 4–5 years of leadership experience managing technical teams and complex projects.
- 
Experience in consumer electronics, telecommunications, or related technology industries preferred.
