  • Technical – comprehensive knowledge of Trade Transactions and Trade Documentation, knowledge of Documentary Letters of Credit, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules, Uniform Customs Practices (UCP 600),, International Standby Practices (ISP 98), URC522, URR725, ISBP and URDG
  • Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)
  • Demonstrate conceptual and innovative thinking with customer centric focus.
  • Ability to analyze processes / documents / issues from every angle and provide solutions, both tactical and strategic
  • Minimum 10 Years’ experience in Trade Operations in a reputed bank / financial institution
  • Graduate / Postgraduate
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to negotiate with senior stakeholders.
  • Must have proven people management skills preferably running a team for at least 3 years.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead a team (11) responsible for the delivery of Import products covering issuance and amendment of all Letters of Credit as well as related bill activities. The role-holder retains final say over workability of any issued instrument ensuring adherence to industry regulations and the banks own policies / procedures.
  • Lead the drive to instill a customer service ethic / focus moving away from an SLA based mentality to the delivery of a Turn Around Time (TAT) mindset which is a key differentiator for ENBD in the market.
  • Have full accountability for the performance and results of the Imports Team from a revenue and financial risk perspective.
  • Proactively engage stakeholders / customers to develop a deep understanding of market trends / expectations aligning strategic actions accordingly. Part of this involves the completion and delivery of customer service reviews further cementing our relationship and driving revenue generation.
  • Develop, maintain, and assume responsibility for related operational procedures in line with set policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain a robust risk control environment and proactively identify / resolve complex issues with reference to other stakeholders / risk stewards as prescribed by group policies and procedures.
  • Provide advisory and market knowledge to stakeholders as and when required.
  • In addition to the responsibilities relating to Imports, the jobholder will act as a deputy to the Head of Trade and assist in the development and execution of strategic plans for all of Trade Operations (all sub divisional areas) in line with business / function objectives / strategy employing appropriate project methodologies to deliver outcomes within agreed timelines.
