Job Summary


The primary responsibility of the Senior Materials Planner is to lead and coordinate demand planning activities to ensure efficient supply chain operations for specified product lines such as Manufacturing, Equipment Mounting, Condensate Management, Manufacturing Chemicals, Electrical Products, HVAC, and Connected Products. This role will lead a small team of Demand Planners in assigned product line, providing leadership and guidance to achieve demand forecasting accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and promote cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, the Senior Materials Planner is responsible for developing long-term strategies, implementing process improvements, and aligning the team’s initiatives with overall business objectives. The effectiveness of this role is primarily measured by service level percentage and inventory turnover.


Essential Duties

  • Leads and mentors Demand Planners, Factory Planners, and Buyers while providing coaching, development opportunities, and consistent feedback to enhance performance and skills.
  • Ensures that the team collaborates with suppliers and manufacturers to reduce backorders.
  • Manages the launch of new items, reviews the product mix, and establishes and maintains settings for the replenishment system.
  • Facilitates monthly consensus forecasting by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams as part of SIOP process to validate and adjust current fiscal year forecasts, ensuring alignment with business owners and executives.
  • Conducts regular data validation in the P4 replenishment system and addresses any necessary corrections.
  • Collaborates with Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to incorporate promotional activities, product launches, and customer insights into demand plans.
  • Fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture within the team by promoting open communication, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Invests in inventory to optimize service levels, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Regularly communicates the inventory health plan for assigned SKUs.
  • Analyzes market trends and applies this knowledge to make informed strategic buying decisions.
  • Identifies and implements new process improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain operations or related field or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in demand planning, inventory management, or international procurement
  • APICS or PMP Certification
  • Knowledge of Chemistry, Electrical, HVAC, Manufacturing or Connected products
  • Completion of DiversiTech’s Personal and Effective Leadership training program within one year of hire.
  • Completion of Process Improvement Project for applying the training/certification
  • Exhibits exceptional leadership skills through coaching and mentoring employees
  • Intermediate experience utilizing computer software such as replenishment software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment
  • Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail
  • Capable of staying composed of high-pressure situations, being resourceful, and taking proactive measures
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with employees on all levels, including executive leadership, as well as carriers and customers

Preferred
  • ISM CPSM or APICS CSCP, and CPIM
