Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, all-around Senior Diesel Technician to join our service team working on fire apparatus. This role requires a skilled mechanic capable of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pump systems.
The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong communication skills, a willingness to continue learning, and the flexibility to support service needs, including limited travel.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical work experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience working in a team-based environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedules
- Demonstrates humility, professionalism, and a strong work ethic
- ASE Suspension/Steering
- ASE Brakes
Preferred
- ASE Diesel Engine
- ASE Electrical
- EVT certifications, or a willingness to obtain if not already held
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Class A or B CDL or willingness to obtain one within 6 months
- Diesel school training
- Combination of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience working on commercial vehicles or emergency apparatus
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus
- Service and troubleshoot engines, pumps, brakes, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and aerial devices
- Follow written and verbal work instructions, repair orders, and established shop processes
- Perform work in accordance with company, industry, and safety standards
- Conduct thorough inspections and identify additional safety or service needs
- Road test vehicles to verify repair quality and safe operation
- Accurately document all work performed and recommended repairs
- Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and internal team members regarding work status and technical needs
- Work collaboratively as a team player, assisting other technicians as needed
- Demonstrate reliability through consistent attendance, punctuality, and task follow-through
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Properly use, maintain, and account for tools and equipment
- Follow all OSHA, environmental, and hazardous waste regulations
- Participate in manufacturer training, industry programs, and ongoing professional development
- Actively learn and train to become a subject-matter expert on fire apparatus systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
