We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our New Product Development (NPD) team—where creativity meets disciplined engineering. In this role, you will turn ideas into manufacturable, high-performance products that redefine what’s possible in conveyance technology. You’ll collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Global Assembly teams to design, prototype, test, and refine mechanical systems and components used in Intralox’s next generation of conveyor solutions.
This position requires both analytical rigor and hands-on curiosity—someone who thrives in an environment where you’re encouraged to build, test, fail fast, and learn quickly.
Own full product lifecycle: Drive mechanical design efforts from concept through production release, balancing innovation with manufacturability and reliability.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Manufacturing Engineers, Product Managers, and Application Engineers to ensure design intent aligns with performance goals and customer needs.
Apply mechanical principles (kinematics, stress analysis, thermodynamics, materials science, and fluid mechanics) to develop robust and efficient designs.
Design and validate new components and assemblies:
Create detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Develop and execute validation test plans for performance, durability, and safety.
Analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Prototype and test: Build and operate test equipment, troubleshoot mechanical systems, and iterate on designs using real-world feedback.
Document and communicate findings: Maintain organized project records, report results clearly, and participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
Contribute to continuous improvement: Identify opportunities in design processes, test methods, and material utilization to increase efficiency and innovation.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in new product design, industrial equipment, or automation systems.
Strong proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).
Hands-on experience building, testing, or qualifying mechanical prototypes.
Analytical approach combined with a strong bias for action.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; comfortable collaborating across disciplines.
Innovation that matters: Work on patented technologies that define the future of automated conveyance—over 25 U.S. patents filed annually.
Engineering autonomy: You’ll own your projects and decisions in a flat, trust-based organization—no layers of bureaucracy.
Hands-on culture: From concept to prototype, you’ll see your ideas come to life in our state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facilities.
Continuous growth: Access ongoing professional development, internal mobility, and mentoring within a company that invests deeply in its people.
Comprehensive rewards: Competitive base salary, five-bonus system tied to company success, 401(k) match, generous PTO, wellness programs, and onsite fitness and health centers.
Global reach, local connection: Join a world-class engineering team headquartered just outside New Orleans—where innovation, integrity, and collaboration drive everything we do.
Laitram rewards performance and innovation with a comprehensive, market-leading package designed for long-term success.
Five-bonus system: four quarterly profit-sharing bonuses plus an annual performance bonus tied to company and individual results.
401(k) with 100% match up to 4%, plus additional company contributions.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, along with onsite Health & Wellness Centers, fitness facilities, and personal training programs.
Generous PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave.
Self-management culture that empowers ownership, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
Career growth through ongoing training, technical learning, and internal mobility across our four divisions.
Values-driven workplace focused on integrity, collaboration, and community impact.
Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
