Job Roles / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients admitted in the department of Surgery, providing leadership on their designated floor and for supporting the functions of the Rapid Response Team. Clinically, they will be providing superior patient care in the assigned ward by making appropriate assessment and diagnosis, providing general medical treatment and performing common procedures as permitted in an ethical manner and in accordance with defined protocols.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Perform basic procedures as per the defined protocols and permission granted.
  • Perform physical examination and monitor patient's progress vigilantly.
  • Communicate the progress of patients to the concerned Consultant, as well as to the patient and/or family.
  • Assess patients and perform and complete required paperwork by filling out relevant forms as per the hospital protocols.
  • Participate in the management of patients under supervision of consultants.
  • Display effective and relevant documentation with quality record keeping of clinical notes, progress notes and discharge summaries as indicated.
  • Work with nursing and paramedical staff as a member of the patient care team.
  • Ensure that patients are given correct medications/ instructions as advised by the Consultants and explain their health care needs.
  • Continually work towards enhancing competencies in a clinical setting under supervision of consultants and other faculty and staff.
  • Participate in educational activities, such as Grand Rounds, and Journal Clubs, where applicable.
  • Be aware of hospital infection control practices, and clinical practice guidelines and follow the same in the workplace.
  • Support department in administrative activities to ensure smooth provision of services in assigned area.
  • Clinical Decision on admission and at discharge.
  • Day to day clinical care of patient with the help of primary team consultants.

Requirements:

The applicant should have:

  • MBBS, preferably FCPS-I, completed.
  • Additional Diploma or MCPS in relevant field will be preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5year of relevant clinical experience or residency training completed.
  • Ability to maintain continuous open and consistent communication with faculty, staff, patients and their families.
  • Ability to make decisions by weighing several factors and to develop solutions that addresses the root cause of the problem and prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to act quickly to address a crisis situation drawing on appropriate resources.
  • Ability to counsel patients and their families and to adapt content, style, tone and medium of communication to suit the target audience's language, cultural background, and level of understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with regard to patient care documentation.
  • Ability to deal with medical emergencies.
  • Ability to perform complicated procedures e.g. Central line insertion, Jocath insertion, Ascitic fluid aspiration etc.
