Location: Government site (Fort Meade area)
Schedule: Full-time, standard day schedule
Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (required)

Here's What Your Day-to-Day Might Look Like

You’ll be part of a collaborative Agile team modernizing a large operational system using microservices and cloud technologies. Each day blends hands-on coding with architecture decisions, automation work, and close coordination with teammates and stakeholders.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Developing Java Spring Boot microservices using AWS native services

  • Building robust REST APIs capable of handling complex data filtering and processing

  • Using Python to automate and optimize AWS resources such as Lambda, Step Functions, EC2, and S3

  • Designing scalable services within a microservices architecture

  • Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Maven, GitLab, and GitOps practices

  • Supporting containerized deployments and cloud-native workflows

  • Participating in Agile ceremonies and delivering iterative software improvements

  • Collaborating with engineers, architects, and mission stakeholders to refine requirements

  • Ensuring reliability, performance, and security across distributed applications

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (required)
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience, OR

  • Master’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience

Required Background:

  • Experience working with AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, and CloudWatch

Required Skills

Candidates should demonstrate experience in at least three of the following areas:

  • Java Spring Boot and/or Python development

  • Microservices architecture design and implementation

  • CI/CD tools and practices including AWS tooling, Maven, GitLab, GitOps, Kubernetes, Docker, or Ansible

  • NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB, including query development and schema design

  • OAuth or OIDC implementation

  • Automated testing frameworks and tools such as Cypress or Cucumber

Desired Skills

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native platforms

  • Strong understanding of distributed system performance and scalability

  • Familiarity with container orchestration and DevOps methodologies

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

Technology Stack

This role utilizes Java Spring Boot microservices, Python automation, AWS cloud services including Lambda, Step Functions, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch, RESTful APIs, Maven build tools, GitLab and GitOps pipelines, container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, configuration tools like Ansible, NoSQL databases, OAuth/OIDC security protocols, and automated testing frameworks including Cypress and Cucumber.

Compensation Range: $184,000.00 - $236,000.00
  • The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
