Job Summary
The Senior National Security Analyst is responsible for developing and executing portfolios in varied national security areas, including national and homeland security; information, data, and cybersecurity; health and biosecurity; and/or energy security. The position is located within a center that works broadly with state and Federal mission partners to analyze, shape, and advance their mission priorities; with industry, academic, and non-governmental partners to deliver mission outcomes; and across UT San Antonio to leverage existing and develop new capabilities for these purposes. This role collaborates and brings significant experience with the national security community and/or equivalent academic training; general familiarity with national security goals, capabilities, needs, and priorities; and a proven track record of success in developing and delivering, up to the most senior leadership levels, tailored oral and written products to national security mission partners. Initial review preference will be given to individuals with applied experience and cybersecurity mission owners or capability providers and/or technical expertise in cybersecurity and related areas.
Core Responsibilities

Works with Federal, state, and/or industry partners, shapes and implements a tailored, policy-relevant mission-support agenda.
- Engages and collaborates with internal and external partners, including universities, service and national laboratories, Federal and state agencies, and other stakeholders.

Develops and executes a portfolio of endowed and sponsored research.

Supervises a cadre of pre-dissertation, post-doctoral, visiting, and nonresident fellows as needed.

Engages with state and federal mission partners to identify, analyze, and prioritize national security requirements.

Provides strategic insights, recommendations, and assessments that support partner mission advancement and policy goals.
- Collaborates with industry, academic, and NGO partners to coordinate mission-focused initiatives, research efforts, and capacity development.

Works across UT San Antonio to identify, leverage, and enhance institutional capabilities in support of mission partner needs.

Develops and delivers polished, tailored reports, briefs, and strategic communications for senior national security leaders

Tracks emerging national security trends, technology development, and policy shifts to support partner engagements and center strategy.

Supports or leads projects involving cybersecurity mission owners or capability providers, where applicable.

Participates in proposal development, partnership building, and program execution activities relevant to the center's mission.
- Represents the center at internal and external meetings, workshops, and high-level engagements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Ten (10) years of relevant professional experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree or PhD in Political Science, International Relations, National Security Studies, Government, Public Policy, Public Administration, Cybersecurity, Business, or other relevant academic discipline.

Experience working with state agencies or Federal agencies with a national security mission.

Demonstrated ability to work with customers for timely and effective mission delivery.

Productive track record in publications, including briefings and reports, and associated professional engagements (e.g., workshops, conferences).

Proven ability to obtain programmatic or project funding and/or to secure endowments or major gifts.

Experience working for or with relevant public agencies, or within an applied public policy setting.

Physical Demands

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas, subject to mission needs. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
