Responsibilities - What you’ll do

Domicile location can be located anywhere throughout the state and may be discussed further at time of interview.

A vacancy currently exists for an Investigator III/PREA Investigative Supervisor in the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Unit.

This is a professional position tasked with supervising investigators that are conducting administrative and criminal investigations related to the sexual abuse of offenders housed in MDOC facilities.

This position requires a working knowledge of the PREA standards, crime scene processing, preparing and/or reviewing an investigative report, and being on-call.

This person must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department officials, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, other state agencies, and the general public.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:

One or more years of experience as an Investigator II with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency OR

Seven or more years of experience in civil, administrative, or criminal investigations (non-clerical), such as tax fraud, licensing, environmental, client care, public assistance, insurance, or military; or experience as a law enforcement officer with responsibility of conducting investigations.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes earned credit hours in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, business administration, social science, environmental science, or related field, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year – a minimum of three years of experience is required)

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

  • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
  • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
