Operations Manager (High-Growth Role with Director Progression)
The Role
A leading international freight and logistics business is seeking a high-calibre Operations Manager to take ownership of its West Coast operations, with a clear and structured path to progress into a senior leadership / Operations Director role.
This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership position for someone who wants to build, scale, and professionalise an operation. You will lead a growing team, drive operational excellence across air, ocean, and domestic freight, and play a key role in shaping the future structure of the business.
This role is ideal for a strong Operations Manager or Senior Ops Manager who is ready to step into a much bigger role over the next 12–24 months.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop the operations team to deliver best-in-class service across all modes.
Oversee freight forwarding, customs, warehousing, and transport operations.
Act as the senior escalation point for complex operational and client service issues.
Build scalable processes, structure, and KPIs in line with business growth.
Work closely with Sales and Account Management to support customer growth and retention.
Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and margin performance across the operation.
Manage supplier and carrier relationships, including commercial negotiations.
Own operational performance, budgeting, cost control, and productivity metrics.
Ensure full compliance with internal procedures, customs regulations, and industry standards.
Play a key role in shaping the long-term operations strategy and leadership structure.
Candidate Profile
5–10+ years’ experience in international freight forwarding and/or US domestic logistics.
Currently operating as an Operations Manager, Senior Operations Manager, or similar.
Proven experience leading and developing operational teams (ideally 5–15+ staff).
Strong understanding of multimodal freight, customs compliance, and operational workflows.
Demonstrated ability to improve performance, implement structure, and scale operations.
Commercially aware, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-growing environment.
Ambitious, leadership-focused, and motivated to step into a Director-level role in the near future.
