Senior Payroll Specialist

Duties

• Process payroll for multiple restaurant entities using the platform Toast Payroll, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
• Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting and account reconciliation procedures
• Manage data entry tasks related to employee hours, breaks, benefits administration, tax information, and deductions with precision
• Prepare journal entries and perform double entry bookkeeping to record payroll transactions accurately
• Maintain the accuracy of labor reporting in the company’s restaurant management system, MarginEdge
• Support benefits administration by coordinating with HRIS systems and assisting employees with payroll-related inquiries
• Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly
• Assist with governmental reporting requirements and tax filings related to payroll activities
• Respond to all government and tax agency notices related to payroll, including withholding orders, and process wage garnishments as necessary
• Process and mail termination checks to the restaurants as necessary in accordance with California labor law
• Other accounting, HR, and administrative tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Proven experience with payroll processing software such Toast Payroll is essential (or equivalent experience with other payroll software is required)
• Familiar with high-volume payroll processing in a multi-entity environment
• Knowledge of accounting principles including debits & credits and journal entries
• Familiarity with financial concepts related to corporate accounting and bookkeeping practices
• Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks Online (QBO) or similar financial tools
• Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to analyze complex payroll data and perform account reconciliation efficiently
• Knowledge of human resources processes including benefits administration and HRIS systems is highly desirable
