Senior Petrophysicist – Dallas, TX

DeGolyer and MacNaughton (D&M) is seeking a Senior Petrophysicist to lead advanced subsurface characterization and petrophysical evaluations in support of global oil and gas and energy transition projects. This senior-level role is responsible for providing technical assurance across multidisciplinary teams, driving integration between geology, geophysics, and reservoir engineering, and mentoring junior professionals to enhance technical excellence within D&M.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute complex petrophysical evaluations and multi-well studies, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop and implement advanced formation evaluation workflows using modern log interpretation, core analysis, and SCAL data.
  • Provide expert guidance on reservoir characterization, reserves estimation, completion design, and development strategy.
Perform quality control on logging programs, acquisition plans, and petrophysical datasets.
  • Integrate petrophysical interpretations with geological models and reservoir engineering analyses to support field development and asset valuation.
  • Present results and recommendations to clients, management, and external stakeholders in a clear, technically sound manner.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for junior petrophysicists, fostering continuous learning and collaboration across the team.

Technical Capabilities

  • Advanced expertise in SLB Techlog and other industry-standard petrophysical software.
  • Strong understanding of log analysis, porosity–permeability relationships, mineralogical modeling, and unconventional reservoir evaluation.
  • Experience integrating core, log, and SCAL data for robust formation evaluation.
  • Proficiency in uncertainty quantification, probabilistic analysis, and digital data interpretation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical results into actionable business insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petrophysics, Geoscience, or Petroleum Engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in petrophysical analysis, including work on complex and unconventional reservoirs.
  • Proven record of technical leadership and cross-discipline collaboration.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
  • Role based in Dallas, Texas (hybrid work model).
