Job Purpose
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, ensuring timely project execution within budget, quality, and safety standards. The role involves coordination with project stakeholders, analyzing progress, identifying potential delays, and recommending corrective actions for smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities.
- Prepare, review, and maintain the baseline project schedule in line with the project scope and contract requirements.
- Develop detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and define activity sequencing for effective planning.
- Establish critical path and key milestones to track project progress.
- Prepare resource-loaded schedules to optimize manpower, materials, and equipment allocation.
- Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule and highlight deviations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
- Identify potential delays, risks, and bottlenecks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Conduct periodic earned value analysis (EVA) to assess project performance.
- Liaise with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to ensure project schedules are maintained.
- Coordinate with the design, procurement, and construction teams to align timelines.
- Attend progress meetings with stakeholders, consultants, and clients to present schedule updates.
- Conduct time impact analysis (TIA) for project delays and prepare extension of time (EOT) claims when required.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- PMP or PSP certification is an advantage.
Experience
- 10 to 12 years of experience in planning and scheduling, with at least 5 years in a senior planning role within the building construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing schedules for high-rise buildings, residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
