The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling the project schedule to ensure timely execution of building construction projects. The role involves preparing baseline programs, project progress reports, resource optimization, delay analysis, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, update, and maintain the Project Baseline Program using Primavera P6.
  • Develop detailed construction schedules, including WBS, activity sequencing, resources, and costs.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules (2-week, 4-week, monthly).
  • Integrate design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities into a unified schedule.
  • Monitor site progress and compare actual progress with the planned schedule.
  • Track project KPIs and milestones; identify variances and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports with narratives, charts, and S-curves.
  • Prepare delay notifications, EOT analysis, and support claims.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and highlight risks or potential delays.
  • Maintain detailed records of project progress for contractual support.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and subcontractors.
  • Attend site meetings and present schedule status and risk analysis.
  • Ensure alignment between planning schedules, procurement schedules, and subcontractor programs.
  • Prepare resource histograms, manpower forecasts, and productivity analysis.
  • Monitor material and manpower utilization to optimize project performance.
  • Support cost control teams by integrating cost and schedule data.
  • Ensure planning deliverables meet client/consultant contractual requirements.
  • Support preparation of claims, variations, and time impact analysis.
  • Review subcontractors’ baseline schedules and progress reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years experience in planning for building construction projects (high-rise, commercial, residential, mixed-use, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office (Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Experience in contractual planning, delay analysis, and EOT claims.
