Job Purpose

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling construction projects to ensure completion within the approved time, cost, and quality requirements. The role involves preparation of detailed project programs, progress monitoring, delay analysis, and coordination with project stakeholders in compliance with contractual and UAE construction standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, including WBS, activities, and logical sequencing.
  • Prepare baseline, target, and recovery programs in line with contract requirements.
  • Establish project milestones and key deliverables.
  • Resource-load schedules and prepare manpower and equipment histograms.

Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor construction progress against approved schedules.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Identify delays, analyze impacts on the critical path, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Update schedules regularly and submit progress reports to clients and consultants.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare progress reports, S-curves, dashboards, and earned value analysis.
  • Perform delay analysis (EOT support) using recognized methodologies.
  • Support claims and variations by providing schedule impact assessments.
  • Maintain accurate planning records and documentation.

Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, procurement, and subcontractor teams.
  • Review and integrate subcontractor programs into the master schedule.
  • Attend progress meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Provide planning inputs for procurement and construction sequencing.

Risk & Commercial Support

  • Identify schedule risks and constraints and propose mitigation measures.
  • Support cost control and commercial teams with cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist project management in optimizing construction methods and timelines.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

Professional Experience

  • 8–10 years UAE experience in construction planning and scheduling.
  • Strong experience in UAE construction projects (high-rise buildings, villas, commercial)

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
  • Good knowledge of MS Project, MS Excel, and reporting tools
  • Sound understanding of construction sequences, methodologies, and productivity
  • Familiarity with UAE construction regulations and standards

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
