Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Digital Technologist is a pivotal role within our organization, requiring a seasoned professional with at least 6 to10 years of Digitalization & autonomous operations in the Oil & Gas industry. The successful candidate will possess in-depth technical know-how of offshore Oil & Gas facilities and aspects related to its operations and maintenance . Assist in the analysis, design and development of Digital Twin roadmap aligned with McDermott’s business strategies. Inform on critical facility O&M use cases and practical solutions with use of Digital technologies implementation. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and identify opportunities for improving overall Cybersecurity. Market evaluation of new tools and techniques to enhance the security posture. Maintain awareness of cybersecurity threats, events, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic insights and recommend best practices for improving digital O&M processes and services leading to a best-in-class delivery model for O&M Digitalization
  • Develop, maintain, and improve digital platforms, software, and systems used for O&M operations.
  • Manage and optimize digital workflows and processes to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, for O&M Digital Twin requirements
  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing of Digital Twin projects, ensuring alignment with the project objectives
  • Interface with other departments & Client representatives to obtain input for solution design and use case detailing
  • Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions)
  • Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred McDermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements
  • Perform (as required) Technical Quality Audit reviews by McDermott Global Procedures
  • Develop and maintain the departmental technical guidelines for the Digital Twin practice
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee development engineers and contractors to ensure efficient implementation of solutions basis approved requirement specifications
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with project owners and stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization
  • Participate in design workshops , project alignment meetings and testing of solutions as required
  • Develop timely project status reports
  • Assure that deviations from the project schedule are addressed and communicated
  • Monitor project risk factors, escalate project issues, and provide Quality Assurance for all project deliverables
  • Drive continuous improvement within the practices and proactively process enhancements to solutions basis the lessons learned
  • Utilize strong presentation skills to convey complex project information to executive audiences with clarity and confidence
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, building strong relationships, and employing active listening, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of 6 to 10 years of Digitalization & autonomous operations in the Oil & Gas industry
  • A good understanding of industrial assets, control systems, and operational technologies (OT)
  • Proven track record of developing complex bespoke IT solutions on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of O&M techniques and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the theory, content, and application of standards and guidelines as applicable to Oil & Gas industry
  • Excellent ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights for performance improvement.
  • Experience in managing projects within specific IT domains (e.g., Data Management & Predictive Analytics, Business Intelligence , O&M commercially available solutions )
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • A minimum of 6 to 10 years of Digitalization & autonomous operations in the Oil & Gas industry
  • A good understanding of industrial assets, control systems, and operational technologies (OT)
  • Proven track record of developing complex bespoke IT solutions on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of O&M techniques and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the theory, content, and application of standards and guidelines as applicable to Oil & Gas industry
  • Excellent ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights for performance improvement.

  • Create a compelling digital vision, communicate, and influence business stakeholders, dealers, team members, suppliers, business units, and industry experts toward that shared vision
  • Own the architecture roadmap and new digital technology adoption
  • Proactively evaluate, design, and promote new products, processes, technologies, and solutions
  • Deliver systems, and architectures and plan for evolving legacy n-tier applications to cloud-native architectures
  • Responsible for driving cyber-security-related policies and methods in the team
  • Responsible for relationships with business and delivery partners
  • Look ahead and strategize for the next 3-5 years of digital transformation
  • Hands-on architect who is passionate about technology and solving important design challenges- this means the individual should be technology agnostic, know how to code, and be willing to consider technologies and solutions that are relevant to the business and its goals
  • Mentor and develop others
