Job Title: Senior Procurement Engineer – MEP
Job Summary
The Senior Procurement Engineer (MEP) is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) materials, equipment, and subcontract packages. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing, timely delivery, compliance with project specifications, and alignment with project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Planning
- Review project drawings, specifications, and BOQs for MEP systems.
- Prepare procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
- Identify long-lead items and plan early procurement.
2. Vendor & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain an approved vendor list in coordination with QA/QC.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery conditions.
3. Tendering & Commercial Evaluation
- Float RFQs/RFPs for MEP materials and subcontract works.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations of supplier quotations.
- Prepare comparison statements (technical & commercial).
- Recommend suppliers based on compliance and cost efficiency.
4. Purchase Order Management
- Prepare and issue purchase orders/subcontracts.
- Ensure all technical specifications, compliance requirements, and commercial terms are clearly defined.
- Monitor order status and follow up for timely delivery.
5. Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Engineering team for technical approvals
- QA/QC for material submittals and approvals
- Planning team for procurement tracking
- Site team for delivery and installation requirements
6. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Track procurement costs against budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities (value engineering).
- Ensure procurement within approved project budgets.
7. Logistics & Delivery
- Coordinate with suppliers for manufacturing and shipping schedules.
- Track material delivery and resolve delays.
- Ensure proper documentation (delivery notes, invoices, etc.).
8. Contract & Risk Management
- Review and manage supplier/subcontract agreements.
- Handle variations, claims, and disputes related to procurement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and project requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting)
- Expertise in procurement processes and contract management
- Negotiation and cost analysis skills
- Familiarity with UAE market suppliers and pricing trends
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and MS Excel
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- 8–12 years of experience in MEP procurement (preferably in UAE/GCC)
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure projects
Preferred Experience
- Experience with major MEP contractors or developers
- Knowledge of local authority requirements (DEWA, ADDC, etc.)
- Experience in value engineering and cost optimization
