We’re Looking for an Experienced Senior Product Manager!
About the Company:
Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®.
We’re proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:
- Named to Ward’s 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies
- Recognized on list of Ingram’s Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024
About the Role:
As a Senior Product Manager, Annuity and Mutual Fund Custodial Platform Delivery, you will lead a consolidated team spanning new business processing, post-issue policy servicing, mutual fund custodial operations, annuity order entry, and sales enablement. This is fundamentally a business ownership role. You’ll bring deep knowledge of annuity and retirement product administration, a strong understanding of how insurance operations and distribution work end-to-end, and the judgment to make consequential product decisions in a regulated environment.
You will own the product roadmap across four core platform areas — annuity and mutual fund custodial administration (Zinnia and SS&C), annuity order entry platforms, and sales enablement platforms — with a focus on driving straight-through processing (STP), eliminating not-in-good-order (NIGO) errors, enabling advisor and distributor effectiveness, and ensuring seamless data flows across the full product lifecycle.
The Senior Product Manager position reports to the VP, Portfolio Strategy & Delivery, and can be based out of our home office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.
Key responsibilities include:- Roadmap & Strategy: Define and own the roadmap grounded in business outcomes, operational requirements, and regulatory obligations; build product strategy independently, balancing priorities based on impact and risk.
- Discovery & Requirements: Conduct ongoing discovery with operations, service center, distribution, and sales teams to identify platform gaps and integration opportunities; translate insights into clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) approved before development begins.
- Delivery Execution: Oversee end-to-end delivery across new business processing, post-issue servicing, and mutual fund custodial operations; manage dependencies and communicate cascading impacts proactively.
- Vendor & Platform Management: Serve as the primary business point of contact for annuity order and sales enablement platforms; coordinate on roadmap alignment, and platform updates.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Influence: Influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams to align priorities; translate business context into actionable requirements for engineering and vendor partners.
- Analytics & Performance: Define and track success metrics including STP rates, NIGO reduction, processing cycle times, and system reliability; use data to drive evidence-based product decisions.
What We’re Looking For:- 6+ years as a Product Manager, with 7+ years in product management, business analysis, or product ownership roles
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 5–8 years of experience in insurance or financial services with direct exposure to annuity or retirement product administration, insurance operations, or regulated platform environments
- Demonstrated depth in annuity and/or retirement product domain — sufficient to make credible product decisions independently and identify downstream impacts of platform changes
- Strong track record managing vendor or platform partner relationships, holding partners accountable while maintaining productive working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to define, document, and gain stakeholder sign-off on requirements before delivery begins in regulated, vendor-dependent environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage senior leaders, operations, compliance, and technical partners
Preferred Qualifications:- Direct experience with Zinnia, SS&C Retirement Solutions, annuity order entry platforms, or sales enablement platform environments
- Familiarity with straight-through processing (STP) workflows, digital new business processing, or automated policy servicing in a life insurance or annuity context
- Familiarity with agile delivery practices and hybrid delivery environments for compliance-critical and time-bounded work
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
