Job Summary
insightsoftware is seeking a Senior Product Owner to joi n the Financial Reporting domain within the Equity product organization. This role is responsible for the product strategy, requirements, and delivery of financial reporting capabilities within Certent Equity Ma nagemen t — including ASC 718 stock-based compensation expense reporting, footnote disclosures, EPS dilution calculations, and related financial outputs consumed by corporate accounting and finance teams. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring deep expertise in equity accounting and a proven ability to translate complex financial reporting requirements into precise product specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
Assist with the product roadmap for financial reporting features, balancing regulatory changes, customer needs, competitive positioning, and platform scalability
Define multi-quarter feature priorities based on revenue impact, regulatory requirements (ASC 718, IFRS 2), and technical dependencies
Conduct competitive analysis of financial reporting capabilities across equity management and equity accounting platforms
Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and key customer stakeholders to identify r eporting gaps and deliver best-in-class financial reporting solutions
Requirements Definition & Documentation
Write comprehensive PRDs with detailed functional specifications, calculation logic, reporting workflows, edge cases, and acceptance criteria
Define report structures, data models, and calculation methodologies with precision appropriate fo r financial clo se and audit processes
Conduct technical review sess ions with engineering teams to validate requirements and ide ntify im plementation risks before development begins
Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure reporting capabilities meet applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with other Equity Product Owners — including Admin Reporting and Batch Processing — to ensure financial reporting data flows and integrations are seamless
Collaborate with Professional Services on customer implemen tations and reporting configurations, identifying best practices
Work with Product Marketing on financial reporting feature positioning, release communications, and sales enablement materials
Engage with Compliance and Legal teams on accounting standard updates and their product implications
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead discovery sessions with corporate accounting, finance, and equity administration stakeholders to understand reporting pain points and requirements
Conduct demos and training for customers, partners, and internal teams on financial reporting capabilities
Support Sales in competitive evaluations, RFP responses, and customer advisory engagements
Participate in customer advisory board sessions focused on financial reporting needs
Required Qualifications
Experience
2+ years in product management or product owner roles, preferably in B2B SaaS environments
3+ years of experience in equity financial reporting
Proven track record of delivering complex SaaS reporting features or financial modules from concept to launch
Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities with a demonstrated aptitude for influencing and building consensus among cross-functional stakeholders
Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
Technical & Domain Knowledge
Deep understanding of ASC 718 stock-based compensation accounting, including expense recognition, forfeiture modeling, and footnote disclosure requirements
Familiarity with IFRS 2 and international equity accounting considerations
Understanding of EPS dilution calculations (basic and diluted) and their relationship to equity awards
Solid understanding of equity compensation plan types, including stock options, RSUs, PSUs, and ESPP
Education
Bachelor 's degre e in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required
Preferred Qualifications
CEP (Certified Equity Professional) Level 1 certification or higher
CPA or accounting credential is a strong plus
MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management frameworks
Experience with financial reporting platforms, ERP integrations, or general ledger connectivity
Your specific offer within this range will be determined by your skills, experience, and qualifications. For non-sales roles, you may be eligible for a bonus. For sales roles, this range includes a commission target.
