Job Summary

The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating workshop production activities to ensure structural steel fabrication projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with client specifications and quality standards. The role oversees production planning, manpower allocation, fabrication processes, quality coordination, and continuous improvement to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: Production Management

  • Supervise day-to-day production activities in the steel fabrication workshop.
  • Plan and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Ensure fabrication activities are completed according to approved production schedules.
  • Optimize workflow to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor production progress and resolve operational bottlenecks.

Fabrication Operations

Supervise and coordinate all fabrication processes, including:

  • CNC Plasma/Laser Cutting
  • Beam Line Processing
  • Plate Cutting
  • Drilling & Punching
  • Fit-Up & Assembly
  • MIG, FCAW, SMAW & SAW Welding
  • Grinding & Finishing
  • Dimensional Inspection
  • Shot Blasting
  • Painting & Coating
  • Packing & Dispatch

Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate with Planning Engineers to achieve project milestones.
  • Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, BOM, MTO, and fabrication schedules.
  • Coordinate with Engineering for drawing revisions and technical clarifications.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and manpower.
  • Liaise with Procurement, QA/QC, Stores, Logistics, and Site teams to ensure smooth execution.

Team Leadership

  • Lead Production Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, and workshop personnel.
  • Allocate manpower based on production priorities.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Monitor team productivity and performance.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure fabrication complies with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC and client representatives.
  • Review NCRs and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Minimize rework through effective production and quality control.

Resource & Cost Management

  • Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, and workshop resources.
  • Monitor material consumption and reduce wastage.
  • Improve production efficiency through Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Control fabrication costs while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies and workshop safety procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Reporting

  • Prepare Daily Production Reports (DPR).
  • Submit weekly and monthly production progress reports.
  • Monitor planned versus actual production.
  • Track KPIs and recommend productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Report production performance to the Production Manager.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 7–12 years of experience in Structural Steel Fabrication or Heavy Steel Manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Senior Production Engineer or Lead Production Engineer role.
  • GCC/UAE experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in Steel Structures, PEB, Oil & Gas, EPC, Industrial Projects, or Heavy Engineering.
