About the Role:

Responsible for the successful execution of aircraft modification and upgrade programs, with a specific focus on the complex avionics, In-flight Entertainment (IFE) and Connectivity systems that enable a modern and digitally connected cabin environment. The role drives the technical strategy, manages the engineering lifecycles, and ensures the seamless integration of these advanced systems to enhance both passenger experience and operational efficiency across Qatar Airways’ fleet.

Accountabilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the technical definition, specification, and change requests, as well as the implementation of
modifications for aircraft avionics, IFE and connectivity systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and airworthiness standards.
  • Conduct in-depth technical analysis and feasibility studies for new technologies and system upgrades related to the connected cabin, evaluating potential benefits, risks, and integration challenges.
  • Lead the digital innovation on aircraft systems such as IFE, Cabin Systems, maintainability, real time reporting and preventive actions.
  • Manage engineering lifecycle of assigned programs, from initial concept and requirements definition through design, certification, post- implementation support, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop, validate system architectures, wiring diagrams, and software configurations for complex integrated cabin systems.
  • Serve as a technical support for troubleshooting and resolving in-service issues related to avionics, IFE and connectivity providing expertise to maintenance and operational teams in the first 6 months of launching a product or system.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation—including Vendor Service Bulletins and certification data—to ensure the fleet’s continued airworthiness and effective configuration control.
  • Prepare detailed Product Specification Documents (PSDs), including comprehensive work scopes, requirements, and technically accurate specifications, in alignment with guidelines provided by the Project Manager. Ensure all design, technical, regulatory, and applicable company requirements are thoroughly identified and incorporated.
  • Maintain and update the Risk Register, Quality Register, Design Change Register, and Cost Register as needed to accurately reflect ongoing project developments and ensure effective monitoring, traceability, and compliance.
  • Initiate Purchase Requests for BFE and other relevant products, goods, or services in a timely manner, and coordinate with Supply Chain team to ensure prompt issuance of Purchase Orders. Ensure that all supplier-provided incentives are accurately captured and reflected in the Purchase Request, where applicable.
  • Review the RSPL for the relevant project and provide well-informed recommendations to ensure the availability of adequate spares at entry into service.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor's level / Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Aeronautical or equivalent discipline, or ICAO Type Il License Bl 182.
  • Minimum 10 years of job-related experience
  • Knowledge in program management and product evaluation
  • Excellent knowledge of EASA and FAA cabin related regulations for linefit and retrofit cabin solutions.
  • Expert in Aircraft Programs operations – IFE/ Connectivity/ Connected Cabin
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong Leadership skills
