Senior Protection & SCMS Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Protection & SCMS Electrical Engineer with a strong background in protection relay testing, commissioning, and maintenance of 11 kV & 33 kV switchgear systems. The ideal candidate will also have solid technical expertise in SCMS (Substation Control & Monitoring Systems) and will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of medium-voltage electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Protection & Testing
- Perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protection relays for 11kV and 33kV switchgear.
- Review and analyze relay coordination, protection settings, and logic diagrams.
- Conduct secondary injection, primary injection, and end-to-end testing using standard relay testing kits.
- Diagnose and resolve protection-related faults and interface issues.
Switchgear Expertise
- Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of 11 kV & 33 kV switchgear, including breakers, CTs, VTs, protection panels, and control wiring.
- Perform periodic maintenance to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
SCMS (Substation Control & Monitoring Systems)
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SCMS systems including RTUs, communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus), and data integration.
- Ensure seamless communication between field devices and SCMS/SCADA platforms.
- Participate in system upgrades, logic modifications, and cyber-security compliance activities.
Project & Documentation
- Lead or support commissioning activities for new substations and system expansions.
- Prepare test reports, engineering documents, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and OEMs to ensure project milestones are met.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of proven experience in protection engineering and SCMS.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical activities.
