Senior Purchase Engineer

58 years old company, PR Rolling Mills (Pratap Steels), is looking for an experienced Roll pass designer.

We are a hot rolling mill company manufacturing specialised profiles through hot rolling process.

Job Description:

Technical Procurement & Sourcing

• Rolling Consumables: Sourcing and procuring high-criticality items like Work Rolls, Backup Rolls, and bearings that can withstand high radial loads and temperatures.
• Spare Parts Management: Procuring mechanical spares (gearboxes, spindles, universal joints) and electrical spares (VFDs, high-power motors, sensors).
• Consumables: Managing the supply of lubricants, hydraulic oils, coolants, and refractory materials for the reheating furnace.

Vendor Management & Development

• Technical Evaluation: Reviewing technical data sheets and drawings to ensure vendor quotes match engineering specifications.
• Vendor Auditing: Evaluating the manufacturing capabilities of foundries and machine shops to ensure they can produce parts to the required tolerances.
• Negotiation: Conducting price negotiations while balancing "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO) rather than just the lowest initial price.

Supply Chain & Inventory Control

• Lead Time Management: Tracking long-lead items (like custom-forged rolls) to prevent mill shutdowns.
• Inventory Optimization: Implementing ABC Analysis and VED (Vital, Essential, Desirable) classification to maintain optimum stock levels.
• Emergency Procurement: Handling "Breakdown Procurement" to source critical components during unplanned downtime.
