Senior Purchasing Associate

Job Summary
Specialty Chemical Co., LLC, part of the ChemGroup, is seeking a Senior level Purchasing Associate to join our team. SCC is an industrial and specialty chemical distribution company based in Cleveland, TN.
The Purchasing Associate role is a mid-level position supporting Sales, Customer Service and Operations, with a primary focus to meet current business demands and future growth opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities (may not be all-inclusive)

• Coordination of purchasing activities to fulfill direct delivery customer sales
• Ensure orders are delivered meeting time constraints
• Communicate material and freight cost impactors to Sales team
• Develop direct relationships with primary suppliers and carriers
• Material sourcing of products and suppliers
• Perform Receiving and Stock Transfers as needed to support the Purchasing team
• Ensure all material orders are at correct cost and quantity for accurate accounting activities
• Ability to negotiate a fast-paced environment to meet time sensitive deadlines
• Ability to identify solutions when presented with evolving customer or carrier requirements
• Utilize multiple communication methods (email, phone, Teams)
• Support other departments as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• 7-10 years’ experience in a purchasing or supply chain related role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills
• Direct experience with ERP systems
• Experience and proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.
• HS / GED Required
• Ability to pass drug/background

Standout Qualifications:

• 4-year degree in business or related field of study
• Purchasing experience within a chemical environment
• Material costing
• Experience with third party freight logistics and bulk material carriers
