District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties: Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways.
This position is in Santa Fe and will be within the District Five Campus /Administrative Section.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.

Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the Procurement process to include Request for Proposals (RFPs), development of contracts, amendments for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Five (D5).
How does it get done?
Incumbent will initiate, review, and process purchasing documents for procurement of materials, services, and equipment. Develop, amend, and audit contracts as well as Request for Proposal's while processing them ensuring it is legally compliant. Process sole source determination forms for engineering services as needed ensuring appropriate justification. Provide administrative duties and ensure compliance with NMDOT processes and procedures as well as State Purchasing regulations and New Mexico Procurement Code. The position will work closely with the Department's Accounting staff to receive, audit, and process invoices.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and one (1) year of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive computer and telephone usage. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
