Senior Python Engineer (FastAPI / Backend) [ag288]

We’re looking for a Senior Python Engineer with strong FastAPI and async Python expertise to build scalable, high-performance backend services. You’ll design robust APIs, work with modern cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred), and collaborate closely with frontend, data, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Experience with AI/LLM integrations is a plus, and comfort using AI coding tools is expected in our fast-paced engineering environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and scale RESTful APIs using FastAPI / Flask with async patterns
• Develop secure services using OAuth2, JWT, and data privacy best practices
• Optimise PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and performance (incl. connection pooling)
• Containerise and deploy services using Docker and cloud-native tooling (Azure preferred)
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support cloud deployments
• Collaborate with frontend, data science, and product teams on integrated solutions
• Integrate external services, including AI/ML and LLM-based APIs where applicable

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python engineering background with production experience in FastAPI and async systems
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, RESTful design, and data modelling
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and performance tuning
• Experience with cloud deployments (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
• Strong knowledge of Docker, microservices, and CI/CD workflows
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Cursor)
• Pragmatic mindset with strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multiple projects
