Key Responsibilities of a Senior Quantity Surveyor:
- Cost Estimation and Management:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
- Monitoring project costs, cash flow, and financial performance.
- Identifying and mitigating financial risks.
- Reconciling cost and value to date/forecast.
- Contract and Procurement:
- Preparing and negotiating contracts and subcontracts.
- Managing procurement processes, including supplier and subcontractor selection.
- Administering contracts and ensuring legal compliance.
- Evaluating subcontractor quotations and preparing orders.
- Assessing subcontractor payment entitlement.
- Project Management and Collaboration:
- Liaising with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align costs with design specifications.
- Attending pre-contract meetings and ensuring timely completion of actions.
- Providing guidance to junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Preparing reports, analyses, and other project-related documentation.
- Analyzing data and providing recommendations to mitigate financial risks.
- Keeping the management team informed of project performance.
- Client Management:
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Addressing client concerns and providing advice on financial matters.
- Negotiating contracts and budgets with clients.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Ensuring timely completion of agreed actions.
- Monitoring site instructions and identifying differences in scope of work.
- Reviewing and processing new prices for work not included in the original scope.
- Contributing to process improvement and innovation in cost management.
