Senior Recruiting ManagerHITT Contracting is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager of Recruiting to lead our enterprise-wide recruiting function and support the continued growth of our business across all markets. This role is based at our Headquarters in Falls Church, VA and is a key member of the Human Resources leadership team.
As HITT continues to expand nationally, including through recent acquisition activity, recruiting plays a critical role in enabling our ability to deliver complex projects, enter new markets, and build high-performing teams. This role oversees talent acquisition across construction (Operations, Site Operations and specialty roles), corporate functions, early career programs, and craft recruiting—ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach to hiring across the organization. Responsibility spans all 16 markets where HITT has an office, as well as project locations nationwide where HITT is engaged, requiring a scalable and adaptable approach to recruiting across geographies.
A key priority for this role will be building and integrating HITT’s craft recruiting capability , establishing the strategy and processes needed to effectively hire skilled trades talent as our self-perform work continues to grow. In addition, this role will lead the evolution of HITT’s recruiting operating model—bringing greater clarity to service expectations, prioritization, and alignment with the business—while maintaining a high-quality experience for hiring managers and candidates.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on—comfortable setting direction while staying close to execution. You bring strong judgment, a deep understanding of recruiting in a complex environment, and experience building or evolving recruiting functions. Prior experience in construction recruiting, including craft or skilled trades hiring, is required.

This role reports to the HR Director and partners closely with business leaders and functional teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
Recruiting Leadership & Strategy
Lead HITT’s recruiting function nationwide, supporting strategy, priorities, and team performance expectations
Oversee full life cycle recruiting across construction, corporate, early career, and craft roles across all markets and project locations
Partner with senior leaders to align recruiting strategy with business growth and workforce planning needs
Employer Brand & Candidate Experience
Lead and elevate HITT’s employer brand across key talent segments, ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling messaging in the market
Partner with Marketing to develop targeted sourcing campaigns that attract high-caliber candidates across construction and early career pipelines
Define and standardize the end-to-end candidate experience, ensuring a thoughtful, high-quality, and consistent experience across all roles and regions
Identify opportunities to improve engagement, communication, and overall perception of HITT throughout the hiring process
Craft Recruiting & Capability Build
Lead the development of HITT’s craft recruiting capability
Establish scalable processes, sourcing strategies, and partnerships to support skilled trades hiring across regions
Partner with operational leaders to align recruiting efforts with field and self-perform workforce needs
Operating Model & Business Alignment
Lead the evolution of HITT’s recruiting operating model, improving alignment with Operations and increasing clarity around service expectations and prioritization
Guide stakeholders through changes in how recruiting support is delivered, ensuring consistency and a high-quality experience across the business
Strategic Initiatives & Continuous Improvement
Own and drive key initiatives that improve recruiting effectiveness, scalability, and consistency across the function
Standardize roles, job structures, and hiring practices—particularly within craft and field-based populations—to support compliance and operational clarity
Redesign elements of the candidate lifecycle to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy
Partner with HR leadership and the Futures Program team to strengthen early career pipelines and campus engagement strategies
Technology, Tools & Innovation
Lead the evolution of recruiting tools and technologies, ensuring effective use of platforms such as Workday, LinkedIn, and related system
Identify and implement enhancements to recruiting workflows, leveraging existing tools to streamline processes and reduce manual effort
Evaluate and introduce new technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve sourcing, screening, and overall recruiting effectiveness
Partner with HR, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure recruiting systems are aligned with business needs and integrated effectively across platforms
Continuously assess opportunities to modernize the recruiting function through thoughtful adoption of new tools, automation, and data-driven approaches
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of recruiters, building a high-performing function grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback, supporting individual growth, career progression, and long-term development across the team
Identify strengths and development areas, creating opportunities for stretch assignments and expanded ownership
Set clear expectations and effectively allocate resources across priorities, ensuring the team is aligned to business needs and operating at a high level
Challenge and elevate the quality of work, fostering strong judgment, thoughtful decision-making, and a high standard for execution
Build a culture of ownership, learning, and support, where team members are empowered to grow and contribute meaningfully
Data, Insights & Performance
Establish and monitor recruiting metrics, using data to drive decision-making, improve outcomes, and communicate performance to leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
8-12+ years of recruiting experience, including leadership of a recruiting function or team
Required experience in construction recruiting, including direct experience with craft or skilled trades hiring
Demonstrated success leading full life cycle recruiting across a range of roles (field, corporate, and/or early career)
Experience building or evolving recruiting processes, programs, or functions in a growing organization
Experience leading change management initiatives (e.g., operating model shifts, process redesign)
Strong leadership and team development skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams
Experience with sourcing strategy, talent pipeline development, and hiring for hard-to-fill roles
Strong understanding of recruiting metrics and data-driven decision-making
Experience with ATS platforms (Workday preferred)
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills
