The New Mexico Department of Health Public Health Division works in conjunction with the Public Health Offices to ensure Health Equity for all our communities by providing access to a large variety of programs. Our goal is to create healthier communities through disease prevention/testing/treatment, education, and providing access to everyone regardless of socioeconomic status. We are also available to assist community partners with educational programs geared towards various audiences from the youth to the older adult.
Why does the job exist?

Adult and pediatric Immunization administration, assisting with School based vaccination clinics / Sexually transmitted infection testing, treatment and follow up / Family Planning: birth control dispensing/administration, pregnancy testing, limited STI testing and treatment / TB assessments, testing, contact investigations, treatment, and case management / Complete client care via standing orders, protocols, or clinician orders / Harm Reduction: syringe exchange, MOUD, Narcan dispensing and information / Providing education on all the above topics to clients and/or their parents at the office or at local Health Events or in conjunction with a Community Partner.
How does it get done?

In person client visits and interviews; Telehealth; Specimen collection of urine and/or swabs and Blood through phlebotomy; dispensing medications and/or birth control; Administering injections, i.e. vaccinations or medications; Contact with other clinics/Doctors via phone, fax, or email; Provide referral services to other clinics for continuation of care; Case Management of client testing, treatment, and follow up care to ensure all tasks have been completed.

The Public Community: Non-Insured and Insured Adults, pediatric clients, Confidential Teens and incarcerated individuals.

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
