Job Description:
This is a 100% external-fund-supported position with funds from the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. This person will help create an adaptive problem map of connections among existing data sets, completed and ongoing research questions, and desired management decisions for invasive Grass Carp in Lake Erie and possibly other Great Lakes. (S)he will consult project partners to compile additional ongoing and potential questions. Subsequently, the person in this position will perform statistical analysis on ecological data for the purpose of filling knowledge gaps identified in the connection mapping process. (S)he will regularly use software that requires prior knowledge of common data storage and analysis software, e.g. Excel, Access, R. The person in this position will also participate in trips on the Great Lakes and connecting waterways for the collection of invasive grass carp and possibly other species as part of ongoing removal or specific scientific studies. When necessary, (s)he will assist with processing biological and other samples on boats and in the laboratory.
