Senior Respiratory Therapist (Diagnostics) - University Campus

UI Health Care is seeking a full-time Sr. Respiratory Therapist. Direct, organize, review and coordinate the work of respiratory therapists and technicians within a specific area of assignment and provide respiratory care as required. Responsible for the delivery of respiratory care, including assisting in pulmonary endoscopy procedures, hyperbaric treatments, pulmonary function testing, non-invasive ventilation, medical gas therapy, medicated aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, blood gas sampling, patient education and to supervise the implementation of respiratory care in the diagnostic testing and hyperbaric units. Provide diagnostic care expertise, education, routine staffing and shift operations relief.

  • Selected candidates will be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive if all qualifications are met including a minimum two-year commitment. Current UI employees are not eligible.

  • This position will also be eligible to receive an additional advanced respiratory care services differential up to $5,000 (prorated based off percentage).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Pulmonary Endoscopy and Other Related Procedures.

  • Assists with Hyperbaric Medicine Treatments and Other Related Procedures.

  • Performs Pulmonary Function Testing and Other Related Diagnostic Procedures.

  • Performs Pulmonary Exercise and Metabolic Testing.

  • Institutes & Provides All Forms of CPAP & BiPAP.

  • Delivers Medical Gas Therapy.

  • Provides Safe Delivery of Medicated Aerosol & General Therapies.

  • Provides Pulmonary Disease Education.

  • Performs Blood Gas Sampling & Analysis.

  • Provides Non-Invasive Monitoring.

  • Participates in the Orientation/Education Activities.

  • Assist in the Training of Students.

  • Adheres to Hospital Epidemiological Practices.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Shift: 0700-1530 and required call time.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a health related science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or National Society for Cardiopulmonary Technology and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Iowa is required

  • Maintain active NBRC Membership

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Respiratory Care practice is required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

  • Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • 3 to 5 years of recent diagnostic care experience.

  • Proficient in computer software applications.
