Senior Retirement Coordinator - Payroll Coordinator (ERB #10117968)

THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME. APPLICANT LISTS MAY BE SCREENED MORE THAN ONCE.
Why does the job exist?
This position maintains retiree payroll related accounts for the NM ERB and is responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of these accounts within a complex system.
How does it get done?
The incumbent will provide quality service and ensure the retirement benefits, totaling approximately $97,000,000 monthly, are paid accurately and timely. This is accomplished by auditing bank ACH reports, Department of Health (DOH) reports, and reports received weekly by outsourced contractor to eliminate overpayments. The incumbent will work with legal staff on unrecoverable funds, and recovering and tracking overpayments due to unreported deaths. This position will request that overpaid funds be returned by the financial institution, family and or estate, and audit payroll department bank deposit changes and/or updates.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalency and three (3) years of direct experience in bookkeeping, retirement processing, benefits administration, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
