Key Responsibilities


The Senior RN - Clinical Educator will work collaboratively with CHS administrative and clinical leadership to plan, develop, implement and and evaluate a comprehensive education program for clinical staff members in Correctional Health Services.


Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Content and Program Development: Developing training materials in a variety of mediums including in-person,
    online and video platforms.
  • Instruction: The provision of training to clinical staff via classroom, online and in-person sessions.
  • Onboarding: Developing and executing onboarding and orientation training.
  • Certifications: Monitoring the licenses and certifications of clinical staff members. Coordinating BLS, ACLS and other certification courses as requested.
  • Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of educational programs and individual staff competencies.
  • Regulatory Standards: A strong working knowledge of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards.
  • Collaboration: Working with CHS Directors and leadership to align education with organizational goals and identified clinical needs.

Supplemental Information

  • Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Utah.
  • Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop,
    stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

Qualifications


Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Clinical experience: a minimum of 2-3 years of direct clinical nursing is required. 12 months of experience in
    correctional healthcare, acute care hospital experience and prehospital EMS experience is preferred. Experience in
    behavioral health or psychiatric nursing is preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS certified. TNCC certification and ACLS instructor preferred.
  • Regulatory: Understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards including the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). CCHP certification preferred.
  • A strong knowledge of evidence-based community standards in medical and psychiatric nursing.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including written and oral presentation skills.
  • The ability and willingness to work weekends and nights to provide education and training to staff working outside
    of regular business hours.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree
  • Emergency Medical Services, Acute Care Hospital (medical / surgical / psychiatry) experience
  • BLS, ACLS, TNCC
  • CCHP Certfication
