Senior Roads Engineer

Job Purpose:

The Senior Roads Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, supervision, and quality control of roadworks within major infrastructure projects. The role includes managing design reviews, overseeing technical and site activities, ensuring compliance with Bahrain’s road design standards and international best practices, and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and government authorities to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective road infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

Design & Technical Oversight

• Lead the design and review of road construction plans in accordance with the Bahrain Road Design Manual and relevant international standards.
• Develop and validate detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material submittals, and technical specifications.
• Conduct feasibility assessments and recommend value engineering solutions to optimize design and cost efficiency.
• Review and approve subcontractors’ design drawings, technical submissions, and method statements.

Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance

• Supervise and monitor the execution of roadworks and infrastructure construction activities on-site.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality requirements, and HSE standards.
• Identify and resolve technical issues promptly in coordination with the design, planning, and site teams.

Project Coordination & Documentation

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, and other disciplines to develop work schedules and monitor progress.
• Prepare and evaluate tender documents, technical proposals, and project reports.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of project phases, approvals, and progress updates.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in road and infrastructure projects, preferably within Bahrain or GCC.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain and international road design and construction standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MX Road, and MS Project .
• Sound understanding of pavement design, drainage systems, and traffic management plans.
• Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English (Arabic is an advantage).
