Your Role
As a Senior Workshop Technician, you’ll be a key technical leader in our workshop operations. You’ll provide expert mechanical and electrical support, guide technicians, and ensure high-quality service and repairs for Surface and Underground mining equipment—all while promoting safety and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Safety & Quality (SHEQ):
- Lead daily hazard identification and risk assessments
- Promote safe work practices and proper use of PPE
- Participate in SHEQ training and contribute to safety planning
- Ensure compliance with site standards and procedures
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to workshop technicians
- Support onboarding and training of new team members
- Collaborate with HR and Workshop Supervisor to enhance team capabilities
- Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous learning
Technical Operations:
- Lead component/machine rebuilds using SOPs
- Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues
- Prepare failure analysis reports using CEFA tools
- Maintain and calibrate workshop tools and test benches
- Coordinate parts and repair schedules with the Service Administrator
- Conduct tool audits and review parts stock levels
- Drive Lean 5S and site improvement initiatives
What You Bring
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in workshop operations
- TL1 Certification (essential)
- HND/Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical
- OEM experience is a strong advantage
