Position Summary

Horizon Health's Faith in Action Senior Services Program Aide plays a vital role in helping older adults remain safe, independent, and connected in their own homes and communities. This position provides non-medical, hands-on assistance to seniors throughout Morrison County, supporting everyday needs that make aging in place possible.

Grounded in Horizon Health’s mission of providing compassionate, dignified, individualized care, the Program Aide works alongside volunteers, caregivers, and community partners to deliver practical help with warmth, respect, and reliability. This role is ideal for someone who values relationships, flexibility, and meaningful community service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Program Aide provides non-medical supportive services, which may include:

In-Home Assistance

  • Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, tidying, vacuuming)
  • Meal preparation or assistance with simple meals
  • Errand assistance (grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups)
  • Organization and basic household support to promote safety

Respite & Companionship

  • Providing short-term respite support for family caregivers
  • Offering friendly visits, conversation, and social engagement
  • Supporting emotional well-being by reducing isolation and loneliness

Home Safety Support

  • Assisting with basic home safety tasks (changing light bulbs, rearranging furniture for safe movement, seasonal preparation)
  • Supporting Faith in Action projects such as ramp builds or grab bar installations in coordination with staff and volunteers (no construction required)

Program Coordination & Documentation

  • Communicating regularly with the Faith in Action Director regarding client needs and service updates
  • Accurately documenting services provided, mileage, and time worked
  • Maintaining client confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Proof of current auto insurance
  • Ability to pass background study and driving record check
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, respectful demeanor

Preferred:

  • Experience working with seniors or caregivers
  • Knowledge of rural communities and resources in Morrison County

Flexible hours, based on client needs; 32-40 hours a week.
