Senior Software Consultant - RPG/AS400

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Consultant – RPG to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RPG development on the AS400 (iSeries) platform and hands-on experience in the insurance domain. You will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting critical insurance applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using RPG (RPG IV / ILE / Free RPG) on the AS400 platform.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
- Work closely with stakeholders from the insurance domain to understand requirements and deliver impactful features.
- Perform code reviews, optimization, and troubleshooting of existing systems and programs.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for new and existing programs.
- Participate in system integration, testing, and deployment activities.
- Provide production support and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Mentor junior developers and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in RPG programming on the AS400 (iSeries) platform.
- Strong working knowledge of RPG IV / ILE / Free Format RPG.
- Experience in the insurance domain is required.
- Proficient in working with CL/CLLE, DB2/400, DDS, and SQL.
- Working knowledge using PCML.
- Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications
- Understanding of system interfaces, batch jobs, and file handling on AS400.
- Familiarity with SDLC processes and Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to modernization tools or integration with web technologies.
- Experience in handling production support and change requests.
- Knowledge of performance tuning and debugging in RPG programs.
