Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Consultant – RPG to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RPG development on the AS400 (iSeries) platform and hands-on experience in the insurance domain. You will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting critical insurance applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using RPG (RPG IV / ILE / Free RPG) on the AS400 platform.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.

Work closely with stakeholders from the insurance domain to understand requirements and deliver impactful features.

Perform code reviews, optimization, and troubleshooting of existing systems and programs.

Develop and maintain technical documentation for new and existing programs.

Participate in system integration, testing, and deployment activities.

Provide production support and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Mentor junior developers and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

3+ years of experience in RPG programming on the AS400 (iSeries) platform.

Strong working knowledge of RPG IV / ILE / Free Format RPG.

Experience in the insurance domain is required.

Proficient in working with CL/CLLE, DB2/400, DDS, and SQL.

Working knowledge using PCML.

Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications

Understanding of system interfaces, batch jobs, and file handling on AS400.

Familiarity with SDLC processes and Agile methodologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to modernization tools or integration with web technologies.

Experience in handling production support and change requests.

Knowledge of performance tuning and debugging in RPG programs.
