About Furlong:
Furlong is an education technology company providing a full suite of MIS (Management Information Systems) products for independent schools. Our flagship product is called SchoolBase. Based out of Andover, UK, we are on a two-fold mission:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Developer to join our development team and help us propel SchoolBase. The ideal candidate will have strong logical and analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and an ability to develop quality software quickly. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that meet business needs and enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications. • Collaborate with team members to identify requirements and define system functionalities.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and scalability. • Participate in code reviews, contributing to best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, with 10-20 years preferred, with .NET Framework
  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Expert knowledge of .NET Framework 4.8
  • ASP.NET Web Forms / MVC
  • C# (LINQ, async/await, exception handling)
  • Dependency injection (Ninject/.NET)
  • RESTful API development and consumption

  • Expert knowledge of frontend development using TypeScript
  • KnockoutJS (data binding, observables, computed observables, custom bindings)
  • TypeScript (strong typing, interfaces, modules)
  • ES6+ JavaScript (arrow functions, classes, destructuring, async/await, modules)

  • Strong proficiency with HTML 5 and CSS
  • Strong proficiency with TSQL and writing/maintaining database-level functionality (i.e. Stored Procedures, Triggers and Functions)

  • Misc Technical Skills
  • Git (Branching, merging, pull requests, gitflow-like structures)
  • Strong experience with MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) pattern for clean separation of concern
  • Familiarity with SOLID principles and Nth tier architecture o Component-based UI and view model design

  • The following skills/experience would be highly valuable but not strictly required:
  • Experience using AI tools to assist with development
  • Experience with React Native
