Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Operations Engineer with deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and custom software deployment automation.
This role includes designing and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure, building automated deployment pipelines, implementing monitoring and observability solutions, and ensuring high availability of custom software applications. The ideal candidate blends strong DevOps engineering skills with software development knowledge, infrastructure automation expertise, and a focus on operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & Cloud Operations
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, or CloudFormation
- Manage Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS, GKE) for containerized application orchestration
- Configure and optimize virtual networks, load balancers, auto-scaling groups, and security groups
- Implement cost optimization strategies and cloud resource governance
- Maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies
CI/CD & Deployment Automation
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
- Automate build, test, and deployment processes for custom software applications
- Implement GitOps workflows and branching strategies (trunk-based, GitFlow)
- Manage artifact repositories (Docker registries, npm, NuGet, Maven)
- Implement automated testing integration (unit, integration, end-to-end)
- Configure blue-green deployments, canary releases, and rollback strategies
Containerization & Orchestration
- Build and optimize Docker containers for custom applications
- Manage Kubernetes deployments (pods, services, ingress, config maps, secrets)
- Implement Helm charts for application packaging and deployment
- Configure service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) for microservices communication
- Optimize container resource allocation and performance
Monitoring, Logging & Observability
- Implement monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, or Datadog
- Configure centralized logging with ELK Stack, Azure Log Analytics, or Splunk
- Set up alerting and incident response workflows integrated with PagerDuty, Slack, or Teams
- Build observability dashboards for application performance, infrastructure health, and SLA tracking
- Implement distributed tracing (Jaeger, Zipkin, Application Insights)
Security & Compliance
- Implement DevSecOps practices including security scanning in CI/CD pipelines
- Manage secrets and credentials using Azure Key Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or HashiCorp Vault
- Configure network security, firewalls, and access control policies (RBAC, IAM)
- Ensure compliance with security standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA where applicable)
- Implement vulnerability scanning and dependency management
- Maintain audit logs and security incident documentation
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with software development teams to optimize deployment workflows
- Document infrastructure architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- Conduct post-mortem analyses and implement improvements
- Mentor junior engineers on DevOps best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in Software Development Operations, DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering roles
- Deep experience with:
- Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (production-level experience)
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE)
- CI/CD Tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
- Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Go
- Version Control: Git, branching strategies, pull request workflows
- Strong understanding of:
- Linux and Windows server administration
- Networking (DNS, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls)
- Database operations (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Application architecture (monoliths, microservices, serverless)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Azure Monitor, Datadog)
- Strong communication skills for working with development teams, architects, and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
- Experience with:
- Custom software development (C#/.NET, Node.js, Python, Java, React, Angular)
- API Gateway management (Azure API Management, Kong, AWS API Gateway)
- Service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
- GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Chaos engineering and resilience testing
- FinOps and cloud cost optimization
- Experience in Agile or Scrum workflows
- Based in Pakistan or the Middle East region (preferred due to cross-time-zone collaboration with US clients)
Contract Details
- Contract Type: 3-month renewable
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
- Work Model: Fully remote
