Senior Software Engineer

As are part of Technical Strategy Oversight team (TSO) within OCI, our mission is to maximize customer choice and transparency while delivering high-value cloud solutions. We are at the strategic center of OCI’s most ambitious projects—architecting and delivering next-generation platforms and frameworks to empower developers and support groundbreaking cloud services.

An engineer at any level can have a significant technical and business impact. In our area, we specialize on everything related to distributed database systems and cloud services. We are looking for people who have experience or are deeply interested in databases, distributed systems and cloud services. There is always something new to do at our team, whether it’s enhancing our existing products or building a completely new one from scratch.

As a member of the Cloud Services Development teams, you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. Our team is the centralized database store for Oracle Public Cloud.

Here are some recommended skills that will help you succeed at your job:

• 5+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems and/or cloud services
• Strong knowledge of Java with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems and cloud services fundamentals
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies especially in cloudDesign, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
• Strong knowledge of Terraforms and/or Ansible is preferred

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
